October 2021 - COVID-19 & Flu Shot Information

Davisville Family Practice

October 20, 2021

We hope that you and your families are all doing well and staying healthy during these challenging times. We would like to share some information with you about flu shots for the 2021-2022 flu season.

It continues to be important for everyone aged 6 months and older to have the flu shot this year due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The necessary health protocols in our office during the pandemic have reduced our capacity for administering flu shots. We are therefore encouraging all patients to obtain their flu shot at pharmacies and public health clinics wherever possible. Pharmacies and public health clinics are able to administer flu shots to children aged five years and older, and can also administer the high dose flu vaccine to seniors over age 65. Our office will book appointments for children under age five and for those that have difficulty accessing the flu shot through other means such as elderly patients and patients with high risk conditions. Please note that we have receive a very limited number of high dose vaccines and as such we ask everyone who is able to get one at a pharmacy or public health clinic to do so.

For those who have not yet received a flu shot for the 2021-2022 season, please visit the following links to find an available site near you:

Please note that due to the COVID-19 pandemic all vaccine clinics and many pharmacies are offering flu shots by appointment only.

Finally, our office has remained open throughout the pandemic. When an in-office visit is needed, we limit patients in the office to allow proper physical distancing and thorough cleaning of rooms. Please do not come into the office unless you have a scheduled in-person appointment with your doctor or the nurse. We ask that only the scheduled patient come into the office, with the exception of children and patients who require a caregiver for assistance. All patients and their accompanying caregiver must be screened prior to coming in to the office. As always, anyone who comes into the office must be free of symptoms consistent with COVID-19 and must not be undergoing a period of self-isolation after travel or contact with an individual with known COVID-19.

Thank you for trusting us for your care and for your patience with our evolving practices as we continue to provide much needed care during these challenging times.

Sincerely,

Davisville Family Practice
