Changes Regarding Virtual Care at Davisville Family Practice

December 12, 2022

Dear Patients of Davisville Family Practice,

The Ministry of Health and The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario have recently weighed in on how virtual care is to be funded and delivered in Ontario. So that we comply with these Government and College requirements, Davisville Family Practice will be making changes to how we deliver virtual care.

We understand that virtual care can be more convenient at times. However, the standard of care for most medical visits includes performing a physical examination. Davisville aims to meet or exceed the standard of care at all times which is why we are making these changes.

Please note that effective December 1st, 2022, the majority of patient encounters at Davisville Family Practice will be 'in-person'. There may be some virtual visits, but these will be reserved for circumstances where a physical exam is not necessary - for example, to follow-up on bloodwork results, for some prescription renewals, and for certain mental health-related visits.

Please keep the above in mind if/when we ask you to come into clinic for your appointment.

If you already have an existing virtual visit that was scheduled prior to December 1, these visits will remain virtual as originally booked, unless recently contacted by our clinic.

We realize that on occasion, there can be extenuating circumstances that result in a virtual visit being the only reasonable option. Should you find yourself in such a situation, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate you.

Thank you,

Davisville Family Practice Team
